2OOO YEARS AGO, A MAN named Jesus Christ performed unprecedented miracles and wonders and signs in the presence of a people who had been called out by God Almighty to be a peculiar people in the world. Other Nations worshipped multiple gods, but this nation, the Nation of Israel worshipped the One True God, the God that created the Heavens and the earth.

In God's Wisdom, He sent His Only Begotten Son…born of a woman, conceived by the Holy Spirit, to reconcile the world unto Himself. He became flesh and dwelt among His people, and they beheld His Glory, as of the Only Begotten of the Father, a man full of Grace and Truth.

Many received Him as a prophet, as a rabbi, as a teacher of Israel.

Others recognized Him as the Messiah, the One Who would deliver His people from their bondage, and would lead them to obtain victory over their enemies.

Multitudes flocked to hear Him speak, and to see Him perform the miracles. Through His ministry, the blind received their sight, the lame walked, lepers were cleansed, the deaf heard, the dead were raised up, and the poor had the gospel preached to them. He walked on water, fed 5,000 people with a few loaves of bread and a couple of fish.

This man rebuked the religious hypocrites of his day, and taught the people how to worship God in spirit and in Truth.

He sat at meat with the harlots and the thieves, the tax collectors, and the beggars.

This man declared to all men that He was the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and that no man could come to the Father except through Him. Now that's a pretty tall claim for a man to make. Either what He said was true, or He was a false prophet. What He claimed to be would have to be backed up by some real solid proof.

He prophesied to the religious leaders who wanted to shut Him up that if they killed Him, he would rise again in three days.

They had Him crucified. Then they put guards around His tomb so that no one of His disciples could come and steal the body and thus stage His resurrection.

But on the third day, there was a great earthquake, and the stone was rolled away by an angel of the Lord, and Jesus Christ rose from the dead, and left His tomb. He was seen by over five hundred eye witnesses.

The historical record alone is substantial enough to show that Christianity is indeed the only true religion. From one man and twelve disciples sprang what is today the largest religion in the world.

Shortly after Jesus' Death, burial, resurrection, and ascension into Heaven to sit at the Right Hand of the Father in Heaven, an unprecedented persecution of those who adhered to the Christian religion by the leaders of the Roman Empire in an effort to eradicate Christianity from the face of the earth took place.

Men, women and children were clothed in sheep skin and were slaughtered in the coliseum of Rome by wild animals. Some were coated with tar and impaled on stakes and set on fire to light the coliseum so the slaughter could continue through the night. Yet despite the efforts of those who were enemies of the cross, Christianity grew mightily and flourished in the face of adversity.

But beyond the historical record, we can see that the testimony of countless millions of Christians throughout time bears witness to the Life changing reality of Jesus Christ. Drunkards, thieves, pornographers, drug dealers and drug addicts, murderers, rich business men, scientists, doctors, lawyers, engineers, Kings and paupers all bear witness to how even today, Jesus Christ has changed them through simply yielding to His Will in their lives.

Yes, Christianity is inarguably the only True Way to Heaven.

Every truly Born Again Christian can say with the same authority and conviction as the apostle Peter said:

2Pe 1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

We become literal eyewitnesses of His majesty when we begin to live for Him, and we see His Mighty work done in our lives. We become eyewitnesses of His Majesty when we are delivered from our bondage and the sin that had us entangled to this world.

What about all the other religions in the world?

All other religions oppress the people who adhere to them. Or they are in actuality a philosophical set of ideas and fables put forth by men who have strove to conform their concept of God into their image.

A few religions, like Christianity are monotheistic in their nature. This is the belief and acceptance that there is only One God.

Others are polytheistic, which means that there is more than just one God.

And still others are pantheistic, which means that god is in everything, and everything is god.

Joh 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Jesus Christ Himself said that ALL who came before Him were thieves and robbers.

All religious leaders who sought to point people to another god but the One True God were thieves and robbers.

In India, those of the Hindu faith have their livelihood stolen from them as countless souls die of starvation while an abundance of meat is available in the cattle that roam the streets unharmed because of the lie of reincarnation.

The Hindu religion does not permit the extermination of rats, mice and harmful insects, thus opening the society to pestilences that destroy human lives every day. This is due to the belief of reincarnation or transmigration, in which another living creature may be one's deceased and reincarnated aunt, uncle, brother or sister, or father or mother.

This religion is a religion that robs a man of his inherent worth as a human being, unless he happens to be in the upper echelons of the caste system. If he is known as an untouchable, he is the object of disdain and bigotry.

The Bible on the other hand tells us that God valued us so much that He gave His only begotten son, so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. The Bible tells us that God is no respecter of persons. All who come to Him, He will in no wise cast out.

Buddhism is actually a philosophy more than a religion. Buddha never professed a God, nor did he profess to be a god. Buddha felt that when all desires were eliminated, one could actually find Nirvana or a state of blissful nothingness. Separation from all worldly concerns would end the circle of reincarnation and the law of Karma.

This separation from worldly concerns would include erasing the influence of your parents, siblings, teachers, and friends. Ultimately, the philosophical logic would be that the cycle of reincarnation would end because you have separated your "self" from any attachments and outside influence, making you free from any bad karma that would dictate that you go through the cycle again.

Buddhism, when applied "religiously" robs a person of the joy of family, the institution that God Almighty set forth at the beginning, when He declared that the Husband and Wife would become one, and that they were to be fruitful and multiply.

In its' purest form, Buddhism is anti family because this is one tie that must be broken in order for a person to become separate from worldly concerns. Buddha was indifferent as to the existence of a god. He simply taught that the cycle of karmic repetition could be broken, and that mankind could achieve a blissful state of nothingness once he or she died. Hence Buddhism not only robs one of family affection; it also effectively denies its' adherents of any heavenly hope.

By its very nature, no practicing Buddhist can hope to go to Heaven, because the Buddhist denies the existence of Heaven.

The religion of Islam was founded some 500 years after Jesus Christ, and became a religion that was in opposition to the Truth found in the gospel records. It was and is an anti-Christian as well as an anti-Semitic religion.

Muhammad did all he could to distort the record of the Bible. He said that it was Ishmael, and not Isaac who was offered up by Abraham to God. He said that Jesus was merely a prophet, and that He wasn't crucified for our sins, but there was a substitute that was crucified in his place.

Muhammad declared that Allah was the only true god, and that Abraham worshipped Allah. But Abraham would never have worshipped a god named allah, because the Hebrew word "allah" means oak trees. Ancient Israel had at times been seduced into going after the gods of the nations around them, and sometimes they had embraced the worship of idols made out of oak trees.

Islam is a religion that teaches that its adherents should smite the infidel (The Jew, the Christian, or the unbeliever) on the neck, and purge the land of the infidel. A close examination of the religion of Islam will show us that Islam only exists to compel the children of Ishmael to exterminate the seed of Isaac.

Jesus taught His disciples to follow peace with all men, toturn the other cheek if your enemy smites you on one side.

Other religions teach their adherents that they will become gods. This is the same lie that was told Eve by the serpent in the garden. This philosophy deprives a person from entering into the Presence of and a personal relationship with the Almighty God.

Still others worship the created thing more than the Creator. Paganism is on the rise in the world.

Witchcraft and the New Age movement embrace the idea that crystals or sticks or other inanimate objects contain hidden powers that are waiting to be tapped into. These false religions appeal to the selfish desires of the individual who wants to be seen as having some kind of mystical ability, and able to rise up to the level of the Most High God. What actually happens is that the practitioners of these delusions end up dying and facing the Holy God Who will give His Glory to no other. They will be cast into an eternity of torment in the flames of Hell because of their rejection of the One True God.

How relevant is Jesus Christ to humanity today?

The Word of God declares Him to be the same today as He was in the days when He dwelt among us.

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

Jesus, the One Who healed the lepers, cast out demons, caused the blind to see, and the lame to walk; the One Who caused the deaf to hear, is able to do the same thing today.

Prior to His ascending to sit on the right hand of the Father, He promised His disciples that He was with them always, even unto the end of the world.

Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Multitudes of people throughout time have been changed through the Name of Jesus Christ.

Islam teaches you the law, things you have to do in order to have a chance to get to Paradise. In order to have a chance at entering into heaven, as a true Muslim, you need to adhere to the Five Pillars of Islam.

The First Pillar: There is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is His prophet. Christianity professes the one True Almighty God sent forth His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, as the only way into Heaven (John 14:6).

Second: The Muslim is to pray five times daily. The purpose here is to avoid having man place himself in the center of everything as it is man's inclination to do. The Bible shows us that Prayer is not a set formula or ritual for a man to follow, but is simply personal fellowship with the One True God. Hence, the Bible says we are to pray without ceasing (1Thes. 5:17). God desires a rapport with His people, as in a personal relationship, not some mechanical formulated ritualistic empty words.

Mat 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Third: The Pillar of charity. A tax is placed on those who have in order to relieve the needs of the have-nots. But Jesus taught that no one but God ought to know whether you have given to the poor:

Mat 6:1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

Fourth: Hajj. Requires every Muslim to make one pilgrimage to Mecca during his lifetime because this is where God's revelations were first revealed. But Jesus wants us to make a daily pilgrimage to Him, because He have revealed Himself to the Christian and met Him right where he was.

Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Fifth: The observance of Ramadan. This is a month of fasting from day break to sundown to commemorate Mohammed's commission as a prophet and his flight from Mecca. But the Bible tells us that since we are sons of God, we do service to Him, and not to the times and the seasons.

Gal 4:4 But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
8 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
10 Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.
11 I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labor in vain.

Buddhism teaches you how to follow an eightfold path to enlightenment:
Right beliefs
Right intentions
Right speech
Right behaviour
Right occupation
Right effort
Right contemplation
Right concentration.

If you can get all that down properly according to the Buddhist philosophy, then you will be able to get to that blissful nothingness called Nirvana.

Right beliefs: Although the Buddha discounted God in His teachings, the night before his so called enlightenment, he contended with the devil, Mara. So the question must be asked…did Buddha believe in the devil, but not God? The Bible says that the only right belief is this: to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and ye shall be saved.

Act 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

That's the only Right thing we can do! The Bible says that all our Righteousness is as filthy rags. What we need to understand is we need to be honest with ourselves. We have stinkin' thinkin', we have sin in our lives, which amonunts to wrong behaviour. The Bible says that there is none good, and it doesn't matter how much we may be occupied in doing the right thing, our good works won't get us anywhere.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

The relevance that Jesus Christ has for humanity today is that He is unchanging. He is an ever Present Help in times of trouble.

Buddha died, and only his teachings exist.

So did Mohammad.

Every philosopher and religious leader that ever lived has died and has not come back from the dead, other than Jesus Christ. The writings of other religious leaders may have survived and they tell you those things that you must do to attain heaven or whatever their philosophy pushes.

But through Jesus Christ, the person is changed inwardly through surrender to His Name. Christianity is not a bunch of dos and don'ts. It is but one do: to call on the Name of Jesus Christ out of a sincere heart, surrendering your will to His. Once you do that HE will make the neccesary changes in your life, by enabling you to obey Him.

Some of the information presented here was gleaned from the book "PICK A GOD, ANY GOD", Written by A couple of personal friends of mine, Doris Neumann, and Doug Olson. If you are serious about learning how to present the Christian Faith in a straightforward sensible way to those who oppose themselves by embracing false religions, you can visit their website and order their book. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT TO BOTH THE CHRISTIAN AND THE SEEKING NON CHRISTIAN ALIKE!
