CROSS COUNTRY NEWS
WHAT'S HAPPENING ON THE ROAD FOR JESUS WITH THE ROWES
MAR.- AUGUST 2,0000_______
PRAISE THE LORD! GREETINGS, MY PRECIOUS BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST! I HOPE THIS NEWSLETTER FINDS YOU ALL WELL AND BEING ABUNDANTLY BLESSED BY OUR LORD!
It has really been a long time since our last newsletter, but what can I say, except that it has been real slow up here, as far as opportunities to reach out to others go (Compared to what I am used to). We all long for the South, but we daily pray "Let Your Will be done in our lives, Lord."
Don't get me wrong…we have been ministering, carrying the cross in International Falls, Bemidiji, and Grand Rapids. We have seen a few souls come to the Lord, and have been able to encourage many to get out of their comfort zones and let Jesus shine through them.
Recently I shared with someone how I see the Lord as being a Master Tapestry Maker.
He is above us, looking down at us, all the while sewing together the events of our lives as we walk through this life he has blessed us with. Since He is designing this tapestry above us, we only get to see the backside, and if anyone has ever looked at the backside of some needle work, they know that it can be a real mess. So we see the mess, and we have a tendency to say, "what are you doing, here, God? It just doesn't make any sense to me!" But if we could just see the tapestry from the Lord's perspective, we would be in Awe of its' intricate beauty! Knowing that, I don't complain…I just raise my arms in surrender to Him, and say,
"Sew away, Lord! Whatever the big picture is, I'm just asking You to have at it!"
Most of you know that Romans 8:28 is my motto. I believe it is absolutely true. But the next verse is REALLY exciting!
Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. (KJV)
GLORY! WHATEVER MY FATHER IS DOING IN THIS GREAT HANDIWORK OF HIS TAPESTRY, HIS ULTIMATE PLAN IS THAT I WILL BE CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF JESUS! AGAIN, I NEED TO SHOUT, "SEW AWAY, LORD, SEW AWAY!"
I believe I have gotten a small glimpse of that tapestry from the Lord's perspective, so I have an idea of what He is doing, and I actually have written the vision down. But I can't share that yet. Maybe sometime in the near future I will be able to share that vision with you. In the meantime, let me update you on some of the things that has happened while we have been here.
In addition to teaching Bible studies on Wednesday nights, and occasionally preaching at the River of God Church and a few others up here, and carrying the cross through some of the towns up here, we were blessed with working with the River of God church in building a float for the 4th of July parade. We didn't expect to win a prize for the float, (and we didn't) but we wanted to make a statement about the state of our country.
To do this, we made two floats. One was entitled "ONE NATION UNDER GOD…", and the other one was entitled 'ONE NATION WITHOUT GOD".
On the float entitled One Nation under God, we put my 12 foot high aluminum cross on the float and painted the words on the crossbeam. Underneath the cross, we had subtopics, LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.
The other float was a rickety old thing…and the subcategories under the heading ONE NATION WITHOUT GOD were DEATH, BONDAGE AND DESPAIR. I had my 10 foot cross laying down, and an American flag flying at half mast. We heard a lot of positive input from the Christians that watched the parade…of course, most of those who have not known Jesus were not too impressed with the message. But what else can we expect? The Word of God tells us that the god of this world has blinded the minds of those who do not believe. As I said, we weren't out to win a prize…we just felt it was important to remind people where our nation is heading without God.
I carried my other cross behind the floats. My leg held up real well, and I was praising God all the way! We were able to hand out several tracts.
Tim Treat and Katie Bauers and I went out one night to the street dance. I wore my robe and carried my cross. We had many wonderful opportunities to share the Love of Christ to several people. What really saddened me was the fact that the people who came up to us were out of towners. The local people stayed away. It saddened me, because I have a great burden to see my old friends to come out of the darkness into the light of Jesus Christ. I have a great love for them, and I will continue to pray for them all.
WE also took the float to the parade of the all class reunion in Littlefork. On the float with One Nation under God, we put two desks with Bibles on them. On One Nation Without God, we also put two desks on it, except one desk had a shotgun on it, and the other had a chain, and a sign, "NO PRAYER"!
I put a '73 on the cross I carried…I had a couple of former classmates come up to me who were surprised that it was me! Considering my past, it was probably a shock to a lot of them that I am now sold out to and unashamed of Jesus Christ! Anyway, God is Good, and it was good to have a viable Christian presence here in Northern Minnesota for a change. I praise God that River of God Church are willing to step out and make a difference in this Northland.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR THE PEOPLE OF BIG FALLS, THAT THE LORD WOULD HAVE MERCY ON THEM, AND THAT THEIR EYES WOULD BE OPENED TO SEE. ALSO, PLEASE PRAY THAT THE LORD WOULD BLESS THE RIVER OF GOD CHURCH AS THEY SEEK FOR WAYS TO DEMONSTRATE THE LOVE OF CHRIST TO THEIR NEIGHBORS. AND TO SPREAD THE LIGHT OF THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST.
It was wonderful to do these things, and to be where the Lord has me, but to tell the truth, my heart is on the streets, and actively witnessing to many people every day. That just doesn't happen on the scale I would like it to happen up here, so you can probably imagine my joy to see the Lord open the door for me to minister in Sturgis, South Dakota with my fellow crosscarrying brother, Brian Chamberlin, at the Motorcycle rally this year. We stayed in their camper while we were there.
I will include some of my journal entries from the outreach.
Wednesday August 9, 2000 Sturgis, South Dakota.
The first day and night out was Glorious. During the day, we went to Deadwood. I personally passed out 2-300 tracts, and used the sound system on the cross to preach. One of the things I preached about was the fact that every body is so quick to run to anything in the world, but when it comes to Jesus, they are afraid to run to him, because of the opinion of others. Telling hardcore bikers that they are afraid of something is like being suddenly soaked with ice cold water on a 100 degree day. They might not like it, but they have to deal with the reality of the situation.
FAVOR WITH THE AUTHORITIES
Last night we went into Sturgis. Before we walked, we prayed that the Lord would bring down every power and principality that exalted itself above the Lord Jesus. Again, I passed out about 400-500 tracts. God is so good, and I want to give Him praise in all I do and say.
Before we walked Deadwood yesterday, Brian prayed the Lord would give us favor in the eyes of the authorities, from the Police officers to the mayor, to the city council. I agreed with Brian in prayer, and also prayed that that favor would also include the leaders of the various motorcycle clubs.
When we were in Sturgis last night, we ministered until around two O'clock in the morning. I stood across the street from Brian all night, and then at around one thirty I had run out of tracts, so I crossed the street to where Brian was, and got some tracts from him, and stood my cross up next to his. While I stood there with Brian, a group of five police officers came up to us, and one of them looked at me and said, "Look, you guys aren't doing anything wrong here…" I braced myself…I figured he was going to tell us to move. I have heard that line before, but he continued - "…But if you two are going to stand here together, you had better be in agreement with one another…we don't want you fighting with those two crosses!" I cracked up laughing. "No problem there, sir!" Then they all shook our hands and thanked us for being out there like we were.
Praise the Lord. We had favor with the authorities. They each took tracts from us. After another half hour, we decided to head out, but before we did, Brian wanted to go and greet a brother and sister that were working an area in front of a "patchholders" bar (GUNNERS).
This is where the gangs like the Hells Angels, Outlaws, Bandidos and the Sons of Silence hang out. Al and Suzanne work in front of this bar, and minister to them as they pass by, handing out free Bibles and offering prayer to whoever wanted it. This is a very specialized ministry. Not just anyone can do this, unless they are called. Anyway, Al and Suzanne weren't there when we got there. But one brother was. We stood there and passed out tracts to whoever came by.
After a while, The brother who had been there before we came along, started to get concerned because members of a particular major club were coming out of the bar and checking us out. He started to tell me about the fact that these clubs are dangerous, and that they have a little patience with Christian ministers, but when they start coming out like they were now, that there was likely to be trouble. He was very concerned that I would take offence at the fact that he was trying to tell me in a nice way as a brother that maybe Brian and I should move on so his opportunity to minister to these people wouldn't be blown. He didn't ask me to leave, because he is a true brother, but I knew what he was trying to say. I assured him that it was no problem…we didn't want to blow his ministry, so we would go as soon as Brian got done ministering to a precious sister in a wheel chair, whose name was Jeannie. He kept on apologizing, and I tried to reassure him.
I said, "Dean, it's all right. The Lord uses the members of His Body in different ways. Brian and I have more of an "in-your-face" type one on one ministry. The Lord has called you to work slower and build trusting relationships over a long term with these clubs. We understand that. And we honor that. As soon as Brian is done, we will go, bro. There's no need to apologize." Soon a member of the club walked up and grabbed the microphone that was in my hand. He didn't take it from me, he just wrapped his big hand around my hand and leaned over and spoke into the microphone…"Test…test…" I smiled at him and said "It's not hooked to the power yet, bro…" He looked at me and walked away. It didn't mean a thing to me…no different than thousands of similar encounters on the streets, but Dean saw more to it. "See, man, they're checking you guys out. They're seeing what you're made of." "Naw, bro. It's no big deal," I assured him. He brought my attention to a few more members of the club that had eased outside. "It's all right, bro." I said.
A man came up to me and took my tract. He said he was backslidden. I told him he needed to get back to the Lord. "You don't know the things I have done," he said. "Doesn't matter. Just be like the prodigal who came to his senses and went back home to his father where he knew he belonged." The man prayed with me right there. I was ministering to him, when a woman came by whose breasts were bared except for a small covering on her nipples. I turned my eyes away from her immediately, and saw that his eyes were focused on her. I said, "Man, you see, that is just one of the traps that Satan sends to thwart the decision you just made." I felt her tug at the sleeve of my robe, and heard her say "Sir." I ignored her, knowing she just wanted me to see her. I continued to speak to him, and I saw his eyes look away from her and into my eyes as I talked to him about the decision he made for Jesus. She tugged at my sleeve some more, and said, "Excuse me, sir…?" I raised my voice so she would hear what I said, as well as the people that were gathered around us. "Man, looking at that stuff ain't worth it. In fifty years or even a lot sooner, if she keeps living the life she is living now, she'll be all wrinkled and shriveled up, and nothing worth looking at anyway. It's all a deception set in place by the deciever. You don't need to waste your time looking at that stuff." He agreed with me, and then she was gone. I looked around, and the people that were around me had respect for me in their eyes.
When you are ministering on the streets, sometimes you just have to share the cold hard truth with some people.
Soon Dean caught my attention and pointed at a person Brian was witnessing to. "Man, this is going to make it or break it. That guy Brian's talking to is the National President of this club." There was concern in his voice. Pretty soon, the guy shook Brian's hand. "Man, I don't believe this!" Dean said. They visited a long time and then they began to walk down the street together. Dean had awe in his eyes, as he said, "Man, this is big! This guy is endorsing Brian by walking with him!" I told Dean I better go, as well, and I left, to follow them. I noticed five or six of the members following about 10 to 20 feet behind me, and one walked beside me at a distance. I offered him a tract, and he took it. As we walked down the street, all the Bikers looked with wonder in their faces as they beheld this sight. It seemed that God had given us favor in the eyes of the authority over this club. As we got to the end of the street, Brian and the president shook hands and hugged each other as they parted!
Today a Hells Angel and his woman gave their hearts to Jesus. A brother whose ministry is washing motorcycles for free, had the wonderful opportunity to lead the man to the Lord. He and four others had been riding to Sturgis, and his "prospect" (sort of like his disciple) was killed in a head on collision. It made them think about their mortality.
Thursday August 10, 2000 Sturgis, S.D.
I met a young man, (15?) who was on fire for Jesus. His name was Cody, and he was passing out tracts, but was running low. I encouraged him in the things of the Lord, and gave him a hand full of tracts. His face lit up, and he waded into the crowd, to do the work of the Lord.
A PRODIGAL RETURNS
Toward the end of the night, I was ministering to a man (Paul) who was drawn to the cross, and a group of Christian motorcyclists asked if they could gather around the cross and pray. I said "Sure," and invited Paul to join us. He grabbed the hands of a couple of brothers, while another one lifted his voice and prayed for the people at Sturgis.
After they were done, I ministered to Paul some more. He was backslidden and truly did have a deep longing to follow Jesus. I prayed a prayer of repentance and restoration with him. I believe he was very sincere when he prayed.
SILENCING THE ADVERSARY
One man walked up to me and in a very belligerent voice, said, "how can you stand here and tell us that that ____ is true?" "Because I know it's True." "But how can you say that you know it is true for sure?" "Because I received Jesus in my life, and became born again, and now I know it's all true." "That ain't good enough, man. How do you know it's true, and not just a fairy tale?" His partner was listening intently with a leering smile on his face.
"O.K.. You won't understand a spiritual truth, so I will explain it to you in a way you can understand. Are you married?"
"Suppose you stood here and described your wife to me. You know her, so you can tell me what she likes and doesn't like. You can tell me what she looks like, and a whole lot about her because you know her, right?"
"Yes, that's right."
"Well, I have never met her. I don't even know if you are telling me the truth when you tell me you have a wife. I can stand here and look you right in the eye, and tell you that I don't believe you have a wife. If you do have a wife, it doesn't matter that I don't believe you…It doesn't change the truth of the matter. So it would be kind of silly for me to tell you that you don't have a wife when you really do. It's the same way with me and Jesus. I have Jesus, you don't. I wouldn't ever know your wife unless I met her. You will never know Jesus until you meet Him."
He looked at me, and said, "Good point, man. I will take your literature." His partner took a tract, as well.
Two very large young men, (One was well over 6'6, and the other was about 6'6) who were Sioux came up to me. They were drunk, and pushing on the cross, as they were saying they loved Jesus. The Lord gave me the strength to keep the cross standing while I told them they need to yield to Jesus and let Him use them for His Glory. It became quite a battle for a moment, trying to keep the cross standing. But the Lord prevailed. They soon walked away.
A WORD FROM THE LORD
A dark complected Biker whose arms were covered with tattoos walked by me and received a tract from me. As he was walking away with a self confident swagger, I yelled after him, "Hey, man!"
He turned to look at me. "I see a preacher in you!" I yelled. His whole countenance changed, and he walked over to me.
"Oh, I don't know about that, man."
"I am telling you that I can see you preaching the Word of God!"
"Man, it's interesting that you're saying all of this. My father was a preacher, but I'm not one."
"Well, isn't that something? I don't think it is any coincidence that I was led to tell you that. The Lord is hard after you, bro…Don't run from Him." "Well, we'll see…" he said, with a smile of incredulity. He started to walk away. "I pray the Lord blesses you, bro, and keeps you safe," I said. He turned around and looked me in the eyes, and said, "I appreciate that, bro."
About a half-hour later, he came back my way. He nodded at me as he started to pass, and I said "Yep, I can see a mighty man of God in you." He turned to me again. "Man, you don't get it, do you? My dad was a preacher, but I am the black sheep of the family."
"Bro, white sheep, black sheep, a sheep is a sheep, and the shepherd of our souls will do anything to get that lost one back into the flock. Usually that lost one is a black sheep."
"Man, I like that. That makes sense. I never thought of that," he said.
"Jesus is calling you back, bro. It's no coincidence that we met like this." "No, maybe not…you know my circle of friends call me Preacher…" I gave him a knowing look. "Get back to the Lord, bro." "We'll see…" he said, and walked away.
Just before we called it a night the biggest of the two Sioux returned. He leaned on the cross. Brian and I prayed for him to be delivered from the evil one. After we had prayed, his countenance was changed a little. I blessed him with a Biker's Bible and he was very grateful. He told me and Brian that his family was behind us, implying that we had received his favor. It was a good night.
THE ENEMY WITHIN
Friday, August 11, 2000 Sturgis, S.D.
The enemy tries in all ways to hit our camp or to hinder the ministry. Both from within and from without. Yesterday as I was carrying the cross in Deadwood, I misstepped, and I think my fibia (the small bone in the back of my leg) rebroke again, or at least fractured…my leg is swollen, but I got a knee brace, and laid in last night, to take it easy so I could maybe go out today. I don't know that the enemy did this. That is not what I am saying. I do know that the Lord opened the door for me to come here, and I am not going to quit now.
Last night Michelle had a discussion with a brother, who seemed to be attacking the ministry of carrying the cross. He told her that a lot of cross carriers had a religious spirit on them. (Maybe that's true...I believe the ones I have worked with don't)
He said that the worst thing people could do was ask someone if they know Jesus. Another brother said it was wrong to pass out tracts. Michelle felt attacked, like they were talking about me, and asked the man if he thought I had a religious spirit. He sidestepped the issue. She asked him again, but he sidestepped the issue. Again, she asked, and he said "No, I think he is a humble man." The other man there said that he bore witness of that fact…but I guess it got intense, and she got stressed.
When she told me, I told her she shouldn't have even gotten that far into it with the brother. I told her she doesn't have to defend what we are doing. The Lord is our protector and our rear guard. It is God that justifies.
Mary said that two sisters in the camp just argued with one another… undoubtedly the enemy is trying to spread contention in the camp. We are battling against principalities and powers, and we can't afford to give into the devices of the enemy.
Last night I broke my fast, because of the leg, thinking that I might be done ministering, but today I see the enemy getting excited, and I know the Lord can work through me even if I did break my fast. Lord God, I pray that you will be glorified.
MORMON ENCOUNTER 8:47 P.M.
Brian and I decided we would wait until night to go out…and stay out late, so we went to Rapid City with our families to do some shopping. We went to a pizza place to eat supper.
On the way out, I encountered four men with white shirts, ties, and name tags, which I couldn't read because of the distance. They were either business men or Mormons, I reasoned. I was sure they were Mormons. Either way, I was going to witness to them. "Hey, how are you guys doing?" I asked.
"Good, how about you?" One answered with a big smile. Now I could read the tags. Mormons.
"Man, I am blessed!" I said. "How could I be anything less than blessed when I'm running with the Lord Jesus Christ?" "We have Jesus, too." He said.
"Praise the Lord, man! I'm glad to hear that."
"As a matter of fact," He said, reaching into his shirt pocket and pulling out a card to give me; "let me give you this card. If you send it in, you can get a free video that tells about the life of Jesus Christ. It's really well done, and I am sure you and your family would enjoy it. Here, you can have it." He held it out to me. I said, "Man, I really appreciate that, bro, and I really admire you guys and your desire to go and tell people of your religion, but obviously we can't agree on some very basic things, since I am born again, and you aren't."
They looked at each other. " I mean, you guys think that you are going to be gods yoursselves someday. I can't buy that. You do believe that you will be gods, don't you?"
"Well, we believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, and rose from the dead so that we could have eternal life…" the man said. "That's not what I asked, man. I mean, you guys DO teach that one day you will be gods, don't you?" He gave another answer that was unrelated to what I had asked.
"Wait a minute….You need to understand that I don't want to argue with you. I just want to know whether or not what I understand about your doctrine is true…If I understand it right, in a nutshell, your doctrine says that we were all spirit children, begotten by Elohim, our Father and God in heaven. Once we were born spiritually, then we entered into a woman's womb at some time at the point of conception, and we were born a human being, and our ultimate goal is to go through this life and live in such a way that we may in turn become gods when we die, and beget spirit children ourselves. Isn't that basically correct?"
"Well, not exactly. There is a lot more to it than that…" He said.
"Well, I am sure, but Basically, that is it, isn't it? I mean, you were first spiritual offspring then became humans, and ultimately will become gods, if everything is done correctly in our lives. Isn't that a correct basic summation of your doctrine?"
"Well, in a way it's true."
"See, that is what I am saying. I have a problem with that. My Bible says that God is without beginning and without end. But if we follow your doctrine, then really, that wouldn't be true. You see, that would mean that Elohim was once like me. He was once a spiritual baby who had been begotten by a spiritual father, and became a human being, and lived a life on some planet, and went through a process whereby he ultimately became God over this planet, and we are all his spiritual offspring, who also have that same potential. That tells me that your doctrine teaches that God had a beginning. That's in direct contradiction to the Word of God." In my peripheral vision, I could see the other three looking at each other, acknowledging that I had a point.
The man to whom I was speaking said "well, we believe that God was from everlasting to everlasting…"
"Well, that's easy to say, but when you take the doctrine to it's logical conclusion, you get a problem. You end up contradicting yourself. Now, you have to understand that I am not attacking you guys, or arguing with you…I don't want to argue. The problem I have is with the Mormon doctrine."
"Well, we have to go eat…"
"Yeah, man, I understand. But I would like to share just one scripture with you, if I could."
"Well, sure," He said.
"Thanks, man." I pulled out my Bible and turned it to 1 Cor. 15:46:
46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. (KJV)
"See, contrary to your doctrine, we see that the Bible says that the natural is first and then the spiritual. You see, I was born a natural man, and then became came born again with a spiritual birth. I couldn't enter into the kingdom of God without that spiritual birth. Your doctrine teaches that I was born spiritually and then naturally. It contradicts the Bible. I have talked to a lot of Mormons, and that particular scripture is one they can't reconcile with their doctrine. But that's just something for you guys to think about. I don't want to argue with you guys." I shook their hands.
One of the other guys said, "Well, that is just something we should take to our heavenly father and ask him about, right?"
"Yes, we should take everything to Him," I replied, "But what you are referring to is that burning in your bosom thing, and that's a whole different subject we could talk about. We don't walk by sight or by feeling things; we walk in the Spirit of God, and He directs us…But, I won't hold you guys any more. You have a wonderful evening." I walked away, knowing that the Lord had directed my words and actions, and that these four men would have an interesting discussion at their table.
Saturday, August 12, 2000 Sturgis
Shannon received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour last night. I was sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with several people who were gathered around me, and Shannon and his brother Kevin interrupted and asked me what I thought about church. I answered his questions as others listened. Eventually he received Jesus as His Lord. Glory! Many others heard the gospel presentation because of his questions.
One man walked up to me and asked me if he could carry my cross down the road. "No, I don't think so, man," I told him, and handed him a tract. "Either I carry your cross or I spit in your face," He said. I looked at him, and shrugged, and said," if that's what you feel you need to do, bro, have at it." He said, "No, I won't spit at you, but I won't read your tract, either." He handed it back to me and walked away.
Marco was in a wheel chair, paralyzed from the waist down. He carried many burdens on his shoulders from his past. I ministered the Love and forgiveness of Jesus to him. We talked for quite a while…he left, almost persuaded…I think he will ask Jesus into his life.
After I left Marco, I carried my cross to a spot a few feet away from him. As I was getting ready to stop, someone grabbed the bottom of my cross, and lifted it up. "Here ya go, mate. I'll help ya walk the cross down the road," I heard a voice with an Australian accent behind me. He was pushing on the cross, and because of my leg, I couldn't resist too much. I was in danger of injuring my leg. I said "No, I don't need any help. I'm not going anywhere, bro." Still he pushed against the cross. I had no choice but to slam the arm into the asphalt, and put my weight on it, so that it would stop him.
"I'm O.k., man. I'm not going anywhere," I said. "I was just going to stand it up." A second man said "O.k., here ya go. I'll help you to put it up, then." He grabbed the arm of the cross, and reached under it to pull it up. I continued to push down on it with my weight. There were three of them there, and I figured I was probably in trouble. "No, it's O.k., bro. Thanks anyway." I had a feeling they weren't really trying to be helpful. My leg was really feeling the stress as I tried to maintain my grip on the cross. I had to do something. "Hey, man. Where you from? Australia?"
"____ no, I'm no (several expletives deleted) Aussie." It worked. He'd momentarily forgotten about the cross. "Then where are you from?"
"Ethiopia," He replied.
"No you're not, man," I said. He laughed and said, "No, I'm from New Zealand." "Well, that's close en…"
"Hey, Jesus!" I heard a voice shout behind me. Suddenly someone came from behind and violently shoved me, causing me to lose my balance and to lose my grip on the cross as I fell forward. Pain shot through my leg as I attempted to maintain my balance. I pitched forward, and caught myself with my hands on the asphalt. A security guard ran up and caught the arm of the guy that had pushed me. I picked myself up, being careful not to show any pain. (I refuse to give the enemy the satisfaction of knowing he succeeded in injuring me.)
I walked over to the security officer, and said "Hey, it's o.k. It's no big deal." In the mean time, the New Zealanders who had been giving me a hard time now were on my side. The one I had just been speaking to ran up to the guy that had pushed me, and shouted, "That's not cool, man!" He took his index finger and hit the other guy on the side of the nose. I said to my defender, "It's O.k., bro. Really. Let it go." By this time a crowd of people had been gathering, and shouting at the security officer. They didn't know what had happened, but it was a good time to pitch in and make the trouble worse. Soon about 8 to 10 officers were on the scene.
The New Zealander's buddies came and pulled him away from the scene. I walked back to the New Zealanders, and thanked the fellow that had intervened on my behalf. They started to walk away, but I gave one of them my tract, and he took it and put it in his pocket. When they left, I persuaded the officers to let the guy go. They asked me why, and I said "We come into this thing, expecting things like that to happen. God gave me a lot of grace when I came to him, despite all my sins against Him, and I want to give that guy some grace."
All in all, it was a wonderful time at Sturgis, seeing the Lord move in His Glorious Way. I figure I passed out at least 2,000 tracts. I only found about five on the ground.
WE GOT TO MEET SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO HAD JUST RECENTLY BEEN CALLED TO 'SELL ALL THEY HAVE AND TAKE IT TO THE ROAD FOR JESUS! MARK AND SUZIE ARE ONE SUCH COUPLE. THEY HAVE BEEN ON THE ROAD FOR 2 YEARS.
PLEASE PRAY THAT THE LORD WOULD BLESS THEM ABUNDANTLY WITH ALL THEIR NEEDS BEING MET AS THEY SERVE HIM.
KENNY AND MARIA ARE ANOTHER COUPLE WHO HAVE HEEDED THE CALL. WHILE AT STURGIS, THEIR HARLEY WAS FOUND TO HAVE SOME STOLEN ITEMS ON IT (TRANSMISSION AND FRONT FORKS), SO THE POLICE IMPOUNDED IT. Kenny and Maria came to us, and told us of their situation. They had no idea that the bike had some stolen parts on it. Brian and I prayed with them about the situation, and Brian was led to specifically pray that there would be no wrench that would touch that bike. A half hour before we left Sturgis, Kenny showed up and gave us the good news that the bike was returned to him, and that the insurance company was no longer interested in the case!
GLORY! PLEASE KEEP KENNY AND MARIA IN YOUR PRAYERS.
ALSO PLEASE REMEMBER THE CHAMBERLINS. THEY ARE DOING SOME WONDERFUL THINGS IN SERVICE TO THE KING OF KINGS!
RAY RAPOZA WAS OUR GENEROUS HOST. PLEASE PRAY THAT THE LORD WOULD BLESS HIM FOR HIS HOSPITALITY THAT HE SHOWED US.
AND PLEASE, CONTINUE TO LIFT US UP IN PRAYER AS WE SEEK THE LORD FOR HIS SURE DIRECTION IN EVERYTHING WE DO… I DO BELIEVE WE WILL BE HEADING SOUTH SOON, IF THE LORD SAYS THE SAME…
ALSO…WE ARE EXPECTING ANOTHER BABY! YES! GLORY! WE DISCOVERED THAT FIVE IS NOT A QUIVER FULL! PLEASE KEEP MICHELLE IN YOUR PRAYERS…(MAYBE EVEN PRAY FOR A DOUBLE DECKER BUS?!)
MORE AND MORE I SEE THE LORD MOVING ME INTO A PLACE OF EQUIPPING THE SAINTS… TEACHING, ENCOURAGING, AND EXHORTING THEM IN THE THINGS OF THE LORD…I DON'T WANT TO GET AHEAD OF THE LORD, AND I DON'T WANT TO FALL TOO FAR BEHIND. WE DESPERATELY NEED YOUR PRAYER COVERING.
WE LOVE YOU ALL… LANCE, MICHELLE, TALITHA, FEATHER, ELIJAH, GRACE, AND NOAH!
"NOW FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR, AND THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN!"
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: I met a lot of wonderful brothers and sisters in our Lord, who were in sturgis to see people saved. But I met a lot more who were there under the name of "ministry", who were hard to discern from the rest of the world...looking at the bikes and coveting them...while multitudes were passing them by, headed for Hell.
2 Tim 2:3-4 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.(KJV)
P.S. THE LEG IS BETTER!
