LETTER TO THE MESSENGER OF THE CHURCH IN THYRATIRA

Rev 2:18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.
20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
28 And I will give him the morning star.
29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;

We see that in addressing Himself to this messenger, Jesus describes Himself as having eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass.

Rev 1: 14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. (KJV)

I believe Jesus is explaining that there is nothing that is hidden from His sight. Just as flame illuminates every thing that is around it, so the ways of a man are illuminated before the eyes of the Lord.

Prov 5: 21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.
22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.(KJV)

Prov 24:12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?(KJV)

Mark 4: 22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. (KJV)

He sees all. And we know that though we may fool men, we cannot fool God. I believe the reference to the flaming fire in his eyes is also a reminder that those things which He sees as chaff will be burned up.

This can be seen in verse 23, where He says:

and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

As leaders of the Church of Christ, we need to be mindful of what it is that we are building on the foundation of Jesus Christ.

Rev 1:15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.(KJV)

I believe the reference to His feet being as fine brass is a reminder of how the Lord walked with Shadrach, Meshech and Abednego when they had been cast into a fiery furnace for refusing to compromise.

Like the three faithful Hebrew servants, the uncompromising servant of God will find himself going against the flow as far as popular consensus is concerned. As a result of this, he will find himself "going through the fire" so to speak. But if this messenger remains faithful, despite popular opinion, the Lord assures him that he will be with him in the fire.

As is typical, the Lord mentions this messenger's positive qualities:

19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

In addition to his works, the Lord commends this servant for his Love (charity). This is the love that one gives unselfishly to others. This servant's love for the Lord and for others has not gone unnoticed by the Lord.

His works and ministry (service) are motivated by Love. I believe this messenger is commended for his service to Him, because he hasn't allowed the world to cause him to lose his focus on the ministry the Lord has given to him, or on his relationship to the Lord.

The Lord commends him for his faith and his patience. Patience and Faith go hand in hand together.

A child of God who has learned to trust the Lord in all situations will patiently endure what ever comes his or her way, because the faith they have is telling them that in time, God's Mighty Hand will be seen at work in this situation.

Their faith in God would tell them that He would never leave them nor forsake them.

Their faith would assure them that if God is for them, no one can successfully stand against them.

Their faith in God would assure them that no matter what the situation looks like, they have the victory that overcomes the world.

Their faith in God would tell them they can't look at the present circumstances, because appearances can be deceiving, but they can look at what God says about a particular situation, and trust Him to keep His Word.

This minister is not easily discouraged over anything. He just presses forward and serves the Lord with perseverance no matter what the circumstances may appear to be. In fact, the more he is hit in ministry, the more he Is faithful to press in and do more for the Kingdom of God.

WHAT IS THE JEZEBEL SPIRIT THAT IS PERVADING THE CHURCH IN AMERICA TODAY?

God blessed me a while ago. He reveals to us Truth in a second, and often it takes a long time to explain the Truth that He reveals. Here is what happened:

On this particular day, I was involved in my study in the Word, as I am every day. I have been studying the book of Hebrews for several months, and the past couple of weeks I have been studying the Israelite's journey through the wilderness and how it parallels the Christian's walk with Christ. The desire to return to my first love has to do with that study.

Anyway, I had been into my study for about an hour, and all of a sudden, God revealed a truth from a portion of Scripture that was totally unrelated to what I was studying.

As I was studying Hebrews, I took notice of my wife, Michelle. She was sitting on the couch in our motorhome, and Grace and Noah were laying on her, while she held Abigail in her arms. The Lord brought to my mind the Scripture which says:

15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.(1 Tim 2:15)

And He revealed an hour long sermon in only a few seconds. You see, I have always known I have a good wife.

She has NEVER opposed my decisions to minister when and where I feel the Lord is leading me to minister.

She has NEVER complained about being on the road for thirteen years.

Oh, she has expressed the fact that it would be nice if the Lord would one day grant us a house and some land, (six kids and two adults make for a pretty crowded motorhome!) but she has never complained about the place that the Lord has us in.

She has complained about my sloppiness, and the kid's sloppiness, but not about where the Lord has us, and the ministry the Lord has called us to.

Sometimes the kids (and me) stress her out, but she has never complained about where we are at in ministry.

In the past, I have been somewhat frustrated because she isn't as into the Word as I would like her to be. It's not like she never reads the Word. She does, but she hasn't dug into it like I would like her to.

But she is very practical when it comes to APPLYING the word. Often times she will tell me, "we ought to pray for so and so", or sometimes she will see someone who has a need, and she will tell me about the need, and we will see if we can't fill that need somehow.

Michelle is one of the most unselfish women I have ever known. She doesn't ask for things for herself. Not even when it is only her and I, and she can feel free to tell me what she needs. I have to literally coax it out of her.

I'm not saying all this because she is my wife, and I am biased towards herthe fact is, she has made ministry very easy for me.

And I am not saying that we have a marriage without bumps and potholeswe have hit a LOT of them. But by the Grace of God, we press on!

I have met sisters in the Lord who are Rich in the Word. They are full of an outward display of the Holy Spirit working in them and through them (I am not saying that negatively)! Often I have wished Michelle would be like that.

I would think that it would be a wonderful thing if my wife was a spiritual Deborah, doing battle in the heavenlies, and seeing people delivered from their bondages, or ministering with me to others in the Word.

I love my wife, but there were times when I would wish she was "more Spiritual". I would tell her that she needed to press in more. Sometimes my words would hurt her, and I would have to apologize.

And then on this day, the Lord showed me how spiritual my wife really is.

In this day of feminism and women's rights, a Jezebel spirit has pervaded the church. God's order in the church has been diminished, and nullified through humanist reasoning.

We all know about what is called "legal loopholes". These are opportunities we get to sidestep otherwise prohibitive laws and to do what we are not supposed to do. By the same token, when the Word is twisted and misused, Satan gets an opportunity to enter into the picture, and wreak havoc in a person's life. That's how he tried to tempt Jesus, by using the Word of God.

Men have been guilty of using scripture to oppress and to control women, by showing them that they could be better wives and better Christians if they would "obey" the Word of God, and bring themselves into subjection to their husband's authority.

Through this misuse and manipulation of the Word of God, men have reduced their wives to the status of second class citizens, and have not heeded the call to love their wives as Christ loved the church, and gave Himself for it.

By and large, men have quoted Ephesians 5:23-24 to control their wives.

Eph 5: 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

But they fail to operate in the Whole counsel of God, which commands them to love their wives as Christ loved the church:

Eph 5: 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.(KJV)

As a result of this misuse of Scripture (only focusing on verses 23 & 24), Satan has crept in and opened the door to this Jezebel spirit to operate in the Body of Christ, and it is wreaking havoc in our churches.

On the heels of this movement in the church, divorce in the church has become rampant, and out of control. Recent statistics I have read indicate that the divorce rate in the church is as high as the divorce rate in the world. That ought not to be.

A lot of women have bought the lie that if their husband isn't lining up with the Word of God, they are "believing God" to either change him, or to release them from him. But that isn't even in the picture according to the rightfully divided Word of God.

1 Pet 3: 1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. (KJV)

The point is that the Word of God says that it is the Holy conduct of a woman of God that may be instrumental in the husband being won to the Lord. But even if he isn't, that doesn't give the woman a license to be divorced.

The Bible says that the meek and quiet spirit is of great price in the sight of God. How different this is from many women of God today!

Today, if a woman's "chaste behaviour" doesn't win their husbands to the Lord, then in their minds, it is grounds for divorce! They can even say "God released me to do this!"

So what is this Jezebel Spirit? According to the Word of God, we can see some of what this may entail:

Rev 2: 20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

In many Charismatic/Pentecostal churches, we can see that the bulk of those who "give the Word of the Lord" through a "prophetic utterance" (usually during worship service) are women.

Now, I am not saying that every message given by a woman is a result of the Jezebel Spirit operating in her. I know some sisters in the Lord who I respect and see to be used by God in the area of the Prophetic.

I know some sisters in the Lord who are spiritual Deborahs, and who are used by God in a mighty way. These women do not compromise the Word of God. I am not referring to these.

But I also believe that there are many who have not learned to discern the difference between "emotions" and "the prompting of the Spirit of God."

IN THIS DAY OF GREAT SPIRITUAL WARFARE, WE CANNOT AFFORD TO BE DECEIVED.

The Word of God is to be our standard, and NOT the ways of the world. If we compromise the Word of God in one area, we will end up compromising it in several other areas. We can be assured of one thing: the Word of God will go against our fleshly comfort zones.

If the Word of God says I have to submit in some area, my flesh will rebel against that Word and if I am yielded to the dictates of my flesh, I will seek to justify not obeying the Word of God.

The grievance that the Lord had against the "angel (messenger) of the church in Thyatira" is that he suffered that woman Jezebel, "who calls herself a prophetess", to do several things.

Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach

The first thing the Lord says that He has against this "messenger" is that he suffered this "prophetess" to teach. This isn't popular today, but the Word of God (not me) says:

1 Tim 2: 11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence

13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.(KJV)

Many people struggle with this passage of Scripture. I personally believe that verse 12 gives the definitive answer of what it is intended to mean.

I believe this is saying that a woman should not take upon herself the position of "teacher" of the Word, in such a manner as to USURP authority over the men.

USURP: 831 authenteo- 1) one who with his own hands kills another or himself 2) one who acts on his own authority, autocratic 3) an absolute master 4) to govern, to exercise dominion over one

Personally, from my understanding of the Scripture, which I admit isn't all conclusive, I believe this excludes the position of a "woman pastor" in the church.

But by the same token, I believe IF a man willingly brings himself under the authority of a woman's wisdom, and teaching, then she is NOT usurping his authority. If I ask a woman to teach me what she has learned about spiritual warfare, she is not usurping my authority by teaching me. I have willingly subjected myself under her.

But if the Lord brings a man who is willing to step into the role of pastor/teacher, or to exercise the authority that the Lord has given him, the question is whether or not she will relinquish her position and be willing submit to him.

Sometimes (particularly today where men refuse to step into their role as spiritual head of the church or of their household), it isn't the woman's fault that she has been put in that position. But I personally believe it is still out of order.

God has set an order in the church, just as He has set an order in the heavenlies. Because of rebellion against that order in the heavenlies, a third of the angels were cast out along with that deceiver, that old dragon, Satan.

As unpopular as it is today in this era of "feminism" that has pervaded the world as well as the church, the woman is exhorted to be in "silence". This word in the Greek is:

2271 hesuchia- 1) quietness description of the life of one who stays at home doing his own work, and does not officiously meddle with the affairs of others 2) silence

What an unpopular subject I have touched upon today!

...and to seduce my servants to commit fornication

Another quality of this Jezebel spirit is that it seduces God's servants to commit fornication.

Through this quick fix mentality of "praying oneself out of a bad marriage," divorce and remarriage is epidemic in the church. And the fact is that it goes AGAINST the Word of God.

In all fairness, it's not always the woman who seeks for a divorce. Men are guilty as well. We are not speaking of a male or female issue herewe are speaking of a spirit and a false doctrine that has pervaded the church.

But having said that, I do believe that some of it's roots are in today's feminist movement.

and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

Another trait of this "Jezebel" is that it teaches the children of God "to eat things sacrificed unto idols".

The word of God identifies covetousness as idolatry. The church today is immersed in covetousness. You can label it however you want, but the fact of the matter is, Christians today are being taught to set their affections on the things of this world more than the things of God.

Christians today are taught to quote the promises of the blessings of Deuteronomy 28:

Deut 28: 3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
7 The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
8 The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
9 The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.
10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.
11 And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath

While they are quoting the promises of the blessings and claiming them for themselves, the Jezebel spirit that motivates them to covetousness causes them to be blind to the conditional nature of these promises:

Deut 28: 1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. (KJV)

See also the last part of verse 13:

Deut 28:13 if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them. (KJV)

America is in severe trouble. The word to those who have embraced this Jezebel Spirit is:

22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

TRIBULATION: 2347 thlipsis- 1) a pressing, a pressing together, pressure 2) metaphorically, oppression, affliction, tribulation, distress, straits

Because of this embracing and submission to this Jezebel Spirit, AND A FORSAKING OF OBEDIENCE TO THE GOSPEL IN EXCHANGE FOR "WHAT FEELS GOOD" Christians are walking in defeat.

They are riding a roller coaster experience of ups and downs in their Christian walk. The pressures of day to day living are becoming almost too unbearable for them. Bills, oppression, depression, affliction, and defeat are the hall marks of many Christians today.

I believe it is because of the Churches' willing submission to this worldly mindset that has pervaded the Church (now read Deuteronomy 28:15-68).

The church scoffs at the slogan "Politically Correct", but it is just as guilty of embracing that view as the world is.

...AND I WILL KILL HER CHILDREN WITH DEATH

Unless the church repents of this "quick fix" if-it-doesn't-work,-we-can-get-a-divorce attitude, and forsakes this Jezebel spirit that has pervaded the pews, and the pulpits, we will continue to see our youth falling away and forsaking the True Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Through this epidemic of divorce that is sweeping through Christianity, Satan is eroding the very core of God's plan for mankind. One of the very first commands that God gave His crowning creation was to be fruitful and multiply. Jesus spoke of the purpose for the creation of the man and woman:

Mark 10: 6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.(KJV)

The relationship with God is likened to the covenant relationship of the marriage between a man and wife.

Because Christians have learned to lightly esteem the covenant relationship of a man and wife, they have a tendency to take their covenant with God lightly, as well.

The children of these families are seeing that a covenant relationship is not much more than a promise that can be broken whenever one or the other person feels like it, so faithfulness or even a relationship to God is not seen as overly important as well.

But even beyond this, I believe the phrase "her children" is referring to those who have been born spiritually by this rebellious spirit that they have embraced.

This comes as a result of men of God actively embracing the error because of popular opinion, and allowing error to creep into the church because they don't want to "rock the boat". But regardless of what the popular opinion may be, God's messengers must maintain integrity in dealing with the word.

John 8: 51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.(KJV)

Rom 6: 16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.(KJV)

The Jezebel spirit replaces the True prophetic Word of God with popular consensus. The Jezebel spirit points at those who call for obedience and compliance to the Word of God regardless of popular opinion, and accuses them of legalism.

There IS a danger of Legalism if a person merely lives by the letter of the law with the goal of working out their salvation, instead of being compelled to obey from a pure heart motivated simply by ones' love for God.

Christians are walking in defeat because of the compromise that God's messengers (prophets, apostles, evangelists, pastors and teachers) are condoning in today's churches. Notice the fine qualities of this particular messenger:

19 I know thy works, and charity (love), and service (ministry), and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

But when it is all weighed in the balance, there is an issue that NEEDS to be addressed: NOTWITHSTANDING, I HAVE A FEW THINGS AGAINST THEE If it isn't addressed, the consequences are tribulation and death.

See, in just a few seconds of revelation as a result of looking at my wife sitting on the couch with Grace, Noah, and Abigail in her arms, has resulted in what could be an hour long sermon.

The fact of the matter is that God hasn't called my wonderful wife to aspire to the position of a Deborah. She is more like the woman spoken of in 1 Peter 3:3:

1 Pet 3: 3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
(KJV)

As unpopular as such thing is today, Michelle is my Sarah. She is walking out the exhortation given in 1 Timothy 2:9-15, and she is doing it with quietness, and without a desire to be recognized for it by anyone.

She is truly adorned with good works.

1 Tim 2: 9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array
10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. (KJV)

This tells me that the woman who is a godly mother and who is a submissive wife will be saved, IF THEY CONTINUE IN FAITH AND HOLINESS WITH SOBRIETY.

It's not whether they are strong in the Word (although that never hurts), or whether they are active in the church.

It's their godliness that impresses God.

I salute those Deborahs who are truly called by the Lord to see powers and principalities brought down through intercession and prayer and in whatever capacity the Lord may have them engage in spiritual warfare.

Those Deborahs that I salute are the ones who do not compromise the Word of God in their service to Him. It is an honor to do warfare with them in the church or on the streets.

But today, I particularly want to salute my wife, and those godly mothers who, like my wife, have been faithful to support their husbands in the Work the Lord has called them to, and who have greatly humbled themselves, in order to ensure their husband's success in his service to the Lord.

Prov 18: 22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.(KJV)

Prov 31: 10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. 14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. (KJV)

In verse 29, where we read that many daughters have done virtuously, the real essence of that word translated as "virtuously" speaks of valour in warfare, or strength. I believe this is referring to the Spiritual Deborahs.

2428 chayil- strength, might, efficiency, wealth, an army a) strength b) ability, efficiency c) wealth d) force, an army

But we read that the woman who minds her business at home and who is that godly wife and mother, excels them all. Great honor in the Kingdom of God awaits those godly wives.

24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.

The Lord speaks to the messenger, and acknowledges that he and some who are in the church do not hold to this Jezebel doctrine. He says that he will require nothing more from this messenger other than that he continues to be faithful in those things which the Lord had commended him for; to continue in his works, his ministry, his love, his patience and his faith.

But as I have said throughout this study, I believe the issue at hand is the fruit of the ministry of the messenger who finds himself in the situation the Lord addresses here.

The Lord doesn't say "I have somewhat against some of those who go to your church" He says "I have somewhat against you"speaking to the messenger of the church, for allowing this false doctrine to take place in his church, or for allowing this doctrine to go uncorrected in the lives of those people he encounters.

26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

The Word translated "nations" here is the Greek word "ethnos". It could mean "nations", but it is also translated in the New Testament as "Gentiles", referring to all people groups. The Word of God was preached to the Jew first, and then to the Gentiles.

Acts 13: 46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.(KJV)

In Revelation 15:3, this word is translated as "saints", where it refers to Jesus as the "King of saints".

Rev 15: 3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest. (KJV)

The servant of God who overcomes and maintains an uncompromising position with the Word of God, despite popular opinion, will receive authority over the Gentiles that the Lord entrusts to him. Those people who are not Jewish by birth are "Gentiles".

The messenger that preaches the uncompromised Word of God will preach to all men, and he will see them be conformed to the Word of God. I believe that a study of the next verse will confirm this interpretation of this letter to this angel, or "messenger".

27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

See the definition of the Word "Rule" here, and how it fits well with the premise of this messenger being a pastor or some other minister of the Word of God:

4165 poimaino- to feed, to tend a flock, to keep sheep, to rule, to govern: 1) used of rulers 2) to furnish pasture for food 3) to nourish 4) to cherish one's body, to serve the body 5) to supply the requisites for the soul's need

This is the same word that Jesus used when he told Peter to "feed My Sheep":

John 21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. (KJV)

Paul uses this word when he speaks of the duty of the "overseers" of the church, and he warns them that false teachers will arise in the church

Acts 20: 28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.(KJV)

The elders are told by Peter, to Feed the flock of God:

1 Pet 5: 2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.(KJV)

Finally, speaking of the multitude which stand before the throne of the Lamb in white garments in Chapter seven of Revelation, we see that Jesus feeds them (the same word we have been looking at):

Rev 7: 13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. (KJV)

Some may ask, what's with the "rod of iron"? The rod is a symbol of authority. This word used here is used in Hebrews 1:8 as describing the Scepter of Righteousness, which is the Lord's.

It is also used to describe Aaron's rod which budded, showing Moses' and Aaron's God given authority (Heb. 9:4) .

The shepherd who fed the sheep had a rod which he would use to keep the sheep in the flock (never with the intent to damage them), or he would also wield it with force to keep the wolves at bay.

The fact that it is a rod of Iron, and not of wood shows that it is unbreakable. The uncompromised Word of God is like a rod that will not be broken.

The Word of God is given for doctrine, and reproof, and correction, as well as instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).

The rightly divided Word of God will keep the wolves away. False doctrines like that which this Jezebel has brought in will be put down and exposed for what it is.

But again, it will not be done like the messenger of the Church of Ephesus would do it. Because the messenger of the Church of Ephesus doesn't operate in Love, he tears down without a view to build up or restore those who are in error.

27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

In Isaiah, we see that the people (popular consensus) wanted to do away with the law of the Lord. As a result, the Lord spoke of the iniquity that they trusted in as being broken as a potter's vessel.

Isa 30:12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:
13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.
14 And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters' vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water withal out of the pit. (KJV)

I believe that the iniquity of the feminist doctrine which has crept in the church through this spirit of Jezebel will be broken when the messenger who finds his church being invaded by this doctrine stands up and exposes it for what it is.

Divorce and remarriage in the Body of Christ will come to an end because of the right teaching behind the pulpit. Those who want to continue in their sinful ways and embrace this Jezebel will leave the church where the Truth is not compromised. They will go elsewhere to find teachers who will tell them what they want to hear.

28 And I will give him the morning star.

Jesus identifies Himself as the morning star in Revelation 22:16 in relation to the fact that He has sent his angel (messenger) to testify these things in the churches.

I believe the morning star represents the revelation of the Truth to the one who pursues it. Jesus is everything to us. He is the Truth. When we seek to serve Him uncompromisingly with our hearts, he will grant to us understanding in the things of God.

2 Pet 1: 19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (KJV)

29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
