The Stronghold of The Spirit of Jezebel At Work in the Church in America Pt 4





The next characteristic of Jezebel is:

4) She was given to vanity, and used her femininity as a device to get her way (2 Kings 9:30).


2Ki 9:30 And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window.


So, in your ministry or church there is no deacon board, the pastor is about uniting the church, and rightly divides the Word of Truth, refusing to partake in any interfaith nonsense. It still doesn't mean that he is completely free of the Jezebel influence in his church.


If Jezebel cannot work division through the church government or through making petty doctrinal differences seem like irreconcilable heresies, or by convincing pastors that they should become yoked with pagan and heathen religions; this spirit will attempt to allure a minister of the gospel to yield to the flesh, OR TO CONDONE CARNAL BEHAVIOR IN THE CHURCH.


It appears to me that Jezebel knew she was in trouble when she got word that Jehu was coming, and she sought to protect her interests through appealing to Jehu by her appearance. The word of God says that she put on some makeup and fixed her hair when she heard that Jehu was coming. She wanted to seduce him into becoming her ally through appealing to his flesh.


Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.


Bibles are being written that are "gender neutral" to appease the feminists in the church.


Hymnals in some churches no longer mention the Blood of Jesus Christ, or the cross because some people find it too offensive.


Homosexuals are being ordained in ministry.


Some churches are conducting homosexual marriages. Some professing Christians believe this is O.K.


All of this and more are a result of the Jezebel Spirit that has pervaded the church. The flesh has predominance over the Spirit in much of the church today, because of the unwillingness on the part of the ministers to address the issues of sin in the church for fear of losing their numbers. We will look at some of these issues that desperately need to be addressed in the church.




Divorce runs rampant in the Church of America today, and ministers of the gospel perform weddings for Christians who have been previously married, without determining why they had been divorced the first time. Sometimes a minister will even recommend divorce.


Some who are in ministry have gotten divorces themselves, and have remarried, and still conduct their ministry with little regard to the Word of God, because their flesh and their "feelings" play too big a part in their lives. These ministers have been deceived by the Spirit of Jezebel, and because they put their stamp of approval on divorce, they teach and seduce the servants of the Lord to commit fornication through their example. Jesus said:


Mat 19:8 ...Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.




There are couples in the church in America today who live together, but who have never been married. Many pastors won't even address the sin, for fear of losing the money that is generated by this person's giving. But physical fornication isn't the only issue. As we have seen elsewhere, conformity to the world is also a type of fornication in the eyes of God. Conformity to the world is so prevalent in the Church in America today.




1 Thessalonians 4:7 says "For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness."


The word "for" here refers to the previous verses which define what "uncleanness" is. In verses 3-6, we can see that the Biblical definition of "Uncleanness" entails fornication, lust or a strong desire for those things that are forbidden to the Christian regarding the world.


Uncleanness also means taking advantage of others in order to get gain (see 1 Thess 4:6, and also 2 Cor 12:17-18, Eph 4:19).


Many in the ministry have learned to manipulate people to acquire money. Sometimes you will hear them say something like "You need to give a gift worthy of the blessing you hope to receive. If you give a dollar, you can expect a dollar's worth of blessing. If you give a thousand dollars, you will receive more of a blessing!" They appeal to the flesh (getting something as a result of giving something) through their unclean motives.




Lasciviousness is defined as: aselgeia Thayer Definition: 1) unbridled lust, excess, licentiousness, lasciviousness, wantonness, utrageousness, shamelessness, insolence.


Jer 7:8 Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.
9 Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;
10 And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?
11 Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.


Jezebel appeals through carnal reasoning and logic. "I am just a sinner saved by Grace" is one of her favorite catch phrases, and those who are under her influence are quick to justify their sin by quoting that phrase.


Adultery is justified by a person reasoning to themselves that surely God won't condemn them for loving someone else's spouse.


Fornication is justified by "well, at least I'm not a homosexual".


Homosexuality is justified by "Well, God made me this way."


Drug addiction drunkenness or any other addiction is justified by a thousand different excuses, usually pointing to someone else.


Gluttony is justified by "well, I just like the taste of food", or "I was born this way".


There is some truth to the latter statement. We were all born into sin. But we CAN and MUST repent of our sin. Any excess on a professing Christian's part is excused through self justification.




While there are Christian denominations who flagrantly practice idolatry in bowing before statues, and praying to them, there is another form of idolatry that is running amok in the Church in America, and this is called covetousness.


Col 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:


The Spirit of Jezebel is at work in the Church to cause the servants of God to covet the things of this world, and to divert their eyes from the true riches of God.




Right in line with idolatry, is the sin of Witchcraft. Concerning the Church in America, we can see a good definition of what witchcraft would be from the example of King Saul. In 1 Samuel 15, King Saul had been ordered by God to utterly destroy the Amalekites and their possessions. But he disobeyed God's Word, and compromised, sparing the king of the Amalekites, and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and everything that was good. He only destroyed those things that were vile and refuse, and justified himself by believing he had done as the Lord commanded.


1Sa 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, He hath also rejected thee from being king.


In the Church in America and in her ministers there has been great compromise of the Word of God. The Word says that we are not to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Just as Saul compromised the Word of the Lord, by keeping the things that looked good, so we have done the same. The word of the Lord says we are not to owe any one anything, except to love one another. Yet ministries and Christians say "I know that the Word says that, but surely God won't mind if we go in debt for His Ministry (by building churches or purchasing equipment) or for our personal comfort." "Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams."


The Word says that divorce and remarriage, covetousness, idolatry, adultery, homosexuality, divisiveness, gossip, back biting, fornication, greed, gluttony, drunkenness, lawsuits against fellow Christians, theft, railing, extortion, uncleanness, hatred, jealousy, murder, are sins, and that those who do such things cannot inherit the Kingdom of God, yet like Saul, Christians pick and choose the ones they want to get rid of, and the ones they want to keep.


"I might gossip a little bit, but at least I don't sleep around on my husband!"

"I might commit adultery, or fornicate, but at least I am not a homosexual."

"I might get drunk once in a while, but at least I don't steal from any one".

"I might be a homosexual, but at least I don't rip people off."

"I might eat too much, but at least I don't get drunk."

It's all rebellion against God, and it is the same as witchcraft.

Jezebel would want the people of God to be deceived into thinking they are all right when they are sinning against the Holy One of Israel.


1Co 6:8 Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.
9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

The Word of God to His People is this:

1Co 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.


Jezebel doesn't want Christians to know that they are able to be victorious in their battle against personal sin. The resulting compromise and callousness toward sin and is akin to witchcraft in the church.



The word translated as "hatred" in Galatians 5:20 actually carries the meaning of hostility. If you call someone an idiot or any other degrading name, is there any room for love in your heart or peace between you? The world labels people as idiots, not a child of God who is walking in the Spirit.


A child of God who walks in the spirit will not exhibit hostility toward others. Reconciliation is impossible where hostility exists.


Many street evangelists and preachers that I know exhibit open hostility toward those who are bound by sin. As I mentioned earlier, some ministries exhibit great hostility toward other ministries they don't see eye to eye with. Jezebel uses the hostility displayed by her puppets in the pulpit to build up walls in the minds and hearts of the lost against the Church of God.




According to Strong's, Variance is defined as a quarrel, by implication, wrangling, contention, debate, and strife. Many who are given over to the flesh are quarrelsome and stir up strife among the believers.


There are many more areas of the flesh that we could address, but these few will suffice for this study. Just as Jezebel sought to dissuade Jehu from his mission through attempting to allure him by her good looks, the spirit of Jezebel seeks to dissuade Christians from fulfilling their mission through enticing them to yield to various excesses in the areas of the flesh.


The problem is that those who hold the office of messengers to the Church will not address these issues, except in a generic way, because they are afraid of losing their livelihood, which brings us to the final area in which Jezebel works in the Church.
